Hi @Shirls4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

What model of HP laptop are you using?

Do you still have access to any recovery media (like a recovery USB or DVD) that came with the laptop?

When you power on, does it go straight to the BOOTMGR error, or do you see the HP logo first?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Hard reset: Disconnect power, remove the battery if possible, hold the power button for 15–20 seconds, then reconnect and try again.
  • Check BIOS boot order again: Make sure the internal hard drive/SSD is listed first. Sometimes the reset process changes boot priorities.
  • Run HP Recovery Environment: If pressing F11 during startup brings up HP Recovery, try running it to repair or reinstall Windows.
  • Rebuild boot files manually: In the recovery environment, open Command Prompt and run:

 bootrec /fixmbr

 bootrec /fixboot

 bootrec /rebuildbcd

This can restore missing boot manager files.

If you still have a same issue then  you may have to do a clean reinstallation .

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
