I have tried to install Windows XP on my hp255 G6 notebook, but I cannot. I do realize that Windows 10 was pre-installed, when I purchased this notebook 4 years ago, but since then, I have a newer quad core laptop. Is there a way to change the bios, so that I may install Windows XP? After all it is my notebook. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the drive controller settings in the BIOS of any HP consumer-class notebook, and it has been that way since XP has gone out of support in 2013.
The drive controllers are now set to the optimal setting of either RAID or AHCI depending on the notebook model series.
No XP drivers were developed for any of the hardware your notebook has, so any experience you have with XP will be marginal at best.
If you want to try to install XP on your notebook, you will have to slipstream the XP AHCI drivers and see if that will allow you to install WXP.
I have zipped up and attached the last SATA AHCI drivers developed for WXP 32 bit below.

It should be a fun project. Let me know how it turns out.
