HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy1000 (436S8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion x360 14-dy100x. For the past 6 months, the trackpad has not been working. I went online to search for some solutions like updating the driver, uninstalling the driver, or just restarting the laptop, and they seemed to work for me temporarily, but now even they don’t seem to work.

I have also taken the laptop to an HP authorized service center, and they told me to wait for the update of the driver pack for the specific version of my laptop. Yet, I am still waiting for the 23H2 Windows 11 update.

Kindly let me know a solution for this problem. Many other people also have the same issue, and I am tired of using a wireless mouse everywhere.

Thanks.

Hi @yasir32,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing trackpad issues with your HP Pavilion x360. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the I2C HID device Code 10 error:

1. Update Windows

Make sure your Windows is fully updated. Sometimes, driver updates are bundled with system updates.

2. Check Device Manager

  • Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Look for Mice and other pointing devices and find your trackpad.
  • If you see a yellow triangle, right-click and select Properties. Check the error code. If it’s still Code 10, proceed with the following steps.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the trackpad device and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

4. Install the Latest Drivers from HP

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Enter your laptop model and check for the latest touchpad drivers. Download and install them.

5. Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Click on Additional troubleshooters and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

6. BIOS Update

Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve hardware compatibility issues:

  • Check the HP Support website for any available BIOS updates for your model. Follow the instructions carefully.

7. Reset BIOS to Default Settings

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10 during boot).
  • Look for an option to restore default settings and apply it.

8. Check for Physical Issues

Make sure there’s no debris or damage affecting the trackpad. A hardware issue may require professional repair.

9. Use an External Mouse Temporarily

While you're waiting for an official driver update, using an external mouse may be your best option for now.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
