HP 15 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I was using my computer, I download a movie and the laptop were working well, I turned off and I didn't used since, but today I wanted to used and it was a blue screen with a sad face and with the text "Error" also, it has the option of see more information about the error named "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL" and it says that the restauration would start after checking the errors, it's been two hours and the only thing working is the principal screen where is the HP logo and nothing else.

I remember that when I bought the notebook, I tried to installed the Windows 10 but it has an error with the system so, the HP service send it to repair, I don't know what can I do with this, if I can fix it the system by my own and how or, if I had to send the notebook again to the offices.

Thank you for your help!

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you have an HP 15 Notebook with Win7 installed on it. I read that the laptop does not boot into Windows and display a BSOD (Bue Screen Of Death) error: IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried to restart the laptop and checked if it helps?

Meanwhile, I did some research and suggest you to perform the following steps to fix this issue:

  • Turn off the computer and wait at least five seconds with the computer in a full off state.

  • Turn on the computer and press the F11 key repeatedly as the computer starts.

  • Under I need help immediately, click Microsoft System Restore.

  • Click Next.

  • In the System Restore window, click Next.

  • Select a date and time from the list of available restore points, then click Next.

  • Make sure the selected restore point is the one you want to use, then click Finish.

  • System files are added, removed, or changed to match the same collection of system files that were in the computer's system file configuration on the selected date. Software and drivers installed after the selected date might not work correctly and might need to be reinstalled.
  • Click Yes to confirm.

  • After the restoration completes, the computer restarts.

  • On the System Restore success message window, click Close.

If the laptop still does not boot to Windows or if the system restore fails then I suggest you to run the hardware tests on the hard drive and the memory. Please open this link and refer to Hardware Diagnostic Tools>> Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools when Windows does not open.

If the hard drive test and the memory tests pass then try the following steps:

Turn on the power and press the f8 key. On the Windows Advanced Boot Option screen, select one or more of the following options. Select them one at a time and press the enter key to attempt a system restart.

  • Disable automatic restart on system failure to view error messages.

  • Repair Your Computer allows Uninstall recently installed software programs Windows to run diagnostic tests.

  • Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced) to return settings to an earlier point in time.

  • Boot into Safe Mode and then Uninstall recently installed software programs.

When in the computer is running in the Safe mode, click Start, Control Panel, and select the Uninstall a program option. When the computer is operating again, go to program manufacturer's Web site for support information.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the results. Good luck! 🙂

This is off the top of my head, but try disabling LAN/WLAN switching in BIOS, and see if the BSODs stop happening.LANWLAN switching.jpg
