Long story short, my HP pavilion notebook has been wiped clean. It was stolen but I recovered it at a pawn shop. It turns on but obviously goes no further than that. Is there any way for me to find my windows 10 product key? Saw posts about recovering it in the BIOS, but as I have no operating system now I'm not sure how to do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi:
Your notebook's W8.1 product key is in the BIOS.
You don't need it to reinstall W10.
Make a bootable USB W10 installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below, using another Windows PC running W7 64 bit or newer. Make the 64 bit installation media.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Boot from the media, select the version of W10 you need to install (W10 Home 64 bit).
Shortly thereafter you will be asked to enter a product key.
Select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and activate once you are connected to the internet.
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
