@Ford201, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Notebook is not accepting the correct PIN and you're unable to reset it, here are a few steps you can try to regain access:

Restart Your Computer

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Try Using Your Microsoft Account Password

If your PIN isn’t working and your device is linked to a Microsoft account:

  • On the login screen, select “Sign-in options”.
  • Choose the password icon.
  • Enter your Microsoft account password instead of the PIN.

Reset PIN via Microsoft Account

If you see a “Forgot PIN?” link:

  • Click it and follow the prompts to reset your PIN.
  • You may need to verify your identity using your Microsoft account credentials.

If this option is not available, proceed to the next step.

Boot into Safe Mode

This can help bypass certain login issues:

  1. Hold Shift and click Restart from the login screen.
  2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  3. Press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
  4. Try logging in with your password.

Use a Password Reset Disk or Recovery Drive

If you created one previously, you can use it to reset your credentials.

Use Another Admin Account

If another administrator account exists on the device, log in with it and reset your PIN from:

Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello PIN

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
