Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Inherited an old HP laptop, and don't have the login password, so tried to troubleshoot. When I  attempted to hard reset by way of restarting and using the "F11" method, it displays an error message which reads "no operating system found" so I ended up figuring out how to add a admin account, thinking I would be given the option to switch to the admin account and login, rather than being stuck on a user account, but it isn't providing me with this option. I also tried to solve my problem by pressing the esc key during boot and then selecting "restore factory settings" or something to that effect, and then "f10" to save and exit as I read while troubleshooting, but this caused a black screen with a cursor to pop up, and then it took me forever to get it back to normal. Please help 🥺 thank you!
