Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that your HP 23es 23-inch monitor is connected to the HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-153w PC. I read that on the monitor there is a message saying "input signal not found".

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • If you have any other monitor, then does it work fine with the PC?
  • Does this monitor work fine with another computer (if available)?

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • I checked the product specifications for the monitor and see that can work via VGA and HDMI connections. So please try to connect one by one on VGA and HDMI. This way you can test both connection types.
  • On the PC, please perform a hard reset. To perform a  hard reset, power off the PC by pressing and holding the power button for few seconds.
  • Disconnect all cables from the PC (including the power cable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. This will release any static from the PC.
  • Reconnect, the power cable, keyboard, mouse and then monitor and then power on the PC.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to reply with the results. Good luck! 🙂

I tried connecting to the monitor using a VGA cable same resuts as HDMI.

The only other computer I have is  a lap top. Is there a way I can use that as a second monitor?

I posted this question on another forumn and there answer was that is because you shut the computer down, so it's telling you there is no signal. Makes sense?

Thank you for replying with the results.

You cannot use another laptop as a screen for this PC. The laptop has a video output port and cannot accept input video signals from the PC.

Do you have any other monitor to test with the PC?

Meanwhile, please perform the following steps on the PC:

  • Press and hold the power button of the PC until it powers off.
  • Disconnect all cables and devices from the PC. Also, disconnect the power cable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds and then release it.
  • Reconnect power cable, keyboard, mouse and the monitor.
  • Power on the PC.

Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
