I cannot install Linux Mint or Ubuntu on this laptop. Either HP or Microsoft have put a lock on the SSD as Linux cannot see it. I've tried all suggestions this forum to no avail. I even wiped the drive using the BIOS option but still could not see it from Linux. It looks like I'm stuck with Windows which is just so painful. I am thinking of selling this laptop and buying another brand.

Have you disabled the Secure Boot and Fast Boot?

I understand the issue you are facing -- but you need to know that virtually all the new laptops being sold have the same restrictions -- secure boot enabled, no way to turn it off, no way to enable Legacy boot. This is OEM laptop suppliers collaborating with Microsoft's desire to enforce ":enhanced security" on ALL of us -- whether we agree with it or not!
