I have just bought a new laptop, with freedos installed. Tried to install windows 11 through a bootable pen. A message reads: install driver to show hardware. I have tried to install intel rst drivers through usb pen, but it does not recognize any of the files in the folder: "Error: No drivers were found". I have also tried to find SATA options in the bios, but can't seem to find any option related to AHCI, RAID or INTEL RST.
Additional information: mouse pad does not work during this stage of installation.
How can I get through this error?

You're very welcome.
Sorry that driver I attached didn't work.
I guess you can try installing Linux, but I don't believe that will work.
I think Windows still won't be able to find the drive.
Since your notebook is still under warranty, you may want to contact HP customer service starting at the link below and see if they can be of help.
The other thing you can do is to post this problem on the Microsoft Windows website and see if anyone there has a solution, because this problem is not unique to HP PC's.

It is a problem with any notebook that has an Intel 14th gen core processor.
If you ever get a solution, please let us know what it is because I would like to be able to help others in the future that have this problem.
It also happens with the even newer Intel Core Ultra processor PC's.

As far as I'm aware there is no storage controller driver available for the 14th gen core processors.
This discussion indicates you can install Windows if your PC has a BIOS setting to disable/turn off the VMD controller:
Below is the link to the latest IRST driver file I could find on the HP website which I have zipped up and attached below.
20.0.1.1039 08/21/2024
You can give that driver a try in the outside chance it may work.

Thank you for the quick reply. There's no VMD option in the bios (see attached photos). Also the drivers you kindly uploaded don't seem to be recognized. Should I try to install linux and then windows 11 over it?

Thanks again.
Microsoft advised to look for the appropriate driver in the product page. The version I found in the hp product support page for my specific model is 10.1.19899.8597 rev.B(sp153848.exe).
After I downloaded and placed the driver folder on my usb pen, a list of drivers is shown on the window. Which one should I install? All of them one by one?

You're very welcome.
I don't believe that the Intel chipset driver file has the drivers for Windows to see the drive and there is no Intel RST driver on your notebook's support page.
I guess you can try one of those PCIe drivers listed there but I don't think that they are going to work.

I have just selected the first one and it allowed me to move on to language and region settings set up.
Now I am stuck again on the select location to install windows 11, but it doesn't seem to be related to the initial problem, or maybe it is. If I select partition 3, it says:

OK, so at least you found something where Windows can find the drive.
I recommend you run the Diskpart utility to clean the disk and then try to install Windows with the driver you selected.
- Press Shift+F10 from inside Windows Setup screen to open a command prompt window.
- Type diskpart and press the Enter key.
- Type list disk to find your disk number.
- Type select disk (e.g., select disk0) to choose the disk you want to format.
- Finally, type clean to wipe the disk completely.
- Exit diskpart and install Windows.
