Hi @Ginger712,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Restoring security settings to factory defaults typically won't restore your operating system or fix the "no operating system found" issue directly. This issue usually indicates a problem with the boot configuration or the boot device itself. Here are some steps you can try.

Check Boot Order: Sometimes, the boot order in BIOS/UEFI settings might have changed. Ensure that your primary boot device (usually your internal SSD or HDD) is selected correctly.

Repair Boot Configuration: You can try repairing the boot configuration using the Windows recovery environment. Here’s how:

  • Boot your laptop using a Windows installation USB or recovery drive.
  • Choose "Repair your computer" > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  • In the Command Prompt window, type bootrec /fixmbr, bootrec /fixboot, and bootrec /rebuildbcd one by one. Press Enter after each command.
  • Restart your laptop and see if it boots properly.

Check Disk Health: It's possible that the Windows update caused corruption on your disk. You can check the disk health and repair any issues using tools like chkdsk.

Restore from System Restore Point: If you have a recent system restore point, you can try restoring your system to that point to undo the recent update.

Reinstall Windows: As a last resort, if none of the above methods work, you may need to reinstall Windows. Make sure you have a backup of your important data before proceeding with this step.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
