I notice the BIOS revision date 2.3.2020  8446. vf 22 not currently updated. Will this be my problem?  Product name HP All-in-one; ser# 8CC93901XC. Or should I get a new laptop.Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi  @Letta3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it can be to see a Secure Boot Violation message when you’re just trying to log in  but don’t worry, we’ll work through this together.

Here are a few  steps you can try right away:

  1. Check BIOS settings: Restart your computer and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup. Look for the Secure Boot option under “Boot” or “Security” and ensure it is enabled. If it’s already enabled, try disabling it temporarily, saving changes, and then rebooting.
  2. Update BIOS: Outdated BIOS firmware can cause signature mismatches. Visit HP’s official support website https://support.hp.com/ , enter your product details, and download the latest BIOS update for your model.
  3. Restore BIOS defaults: In BIOS Setup, choose “Restore Defaults” or “Load Setup Defaults,” then save and exit. This often resolves boot signature issues.
  4. Check boot device: Make sure your primary hard drive is listed as the first boot device. Sometimes incorrect boot order can trigger Secure Boot violations.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please share your exact model number. Your system being from 2020 doesn’t necessarily mean you need a new laptop  often, a BIOS update or configuration adjustment is enough to get things running smoothly again.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
