HP G60-501NR Laptop
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently got an HP G60-501NR Laptop from a friend. Having said that, it still has Windows 7 on it and I'm wondering if the laptop is compatible with Windows 10 so I can potentially upgrade? Input appreciated.

Hello @GuitarGuy503

Welcome !

HP hasn't officially tested your model with Windows 10 and there are no Windows 10 drivers released by HP for this model.

The model is very old and was released long before (years before) Windows 10 was on the table.

Here is the HP Support policy/statement for Windows 10 >> https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c05195282

However, Windows 10 might work on this PC. You may test it on your own and see. In all cases, you should early or later upgrade to a supported operating system or just buy a new computer.

  • You may download ISO file (installation media file) for Windows 10 and use the Media Creation tool to create installation media
  • You may install Windows 10 and test if it works on your machine

You may consider Linux based operating systems if you want to replace Windows 7 with a supported operating system >> https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ultimate-linux-guide-for-windows-users.html

You may consider purchasing a new computer with Windows 10 on it >> https://store.hp.com
