I had an HP laptop a few years ago and when took a flight to another state I put my laptop bag along with my laptop in it through the x-ray.  When I arrived to my destination, I made sure my laptop was charged but when I turned it on it shut off immediately and has not worked since.  I have since purchased a new laptop and would like to know when or if I fly again, is it safe to put it through the x-ray machine?

Computers, laptops, and PDA's and the components within them are not sensitive to X-rays and are not damaged when sent through an X-ray machine.
