Hello again Paul. Unfortunately something is going very wrong. I had no problem creating the bootable USB Windows 10 installation flash drive with the Microsoft media creation tool but, upon plugging it into the USB port of the dysfunctional laptop and selecting the F9 boot options menu and then the (U)EFI USB flash drive and pressing the Enter key, Windows will not start to boot and the Windows 10 installation screen never appears. All I see is the HP logo appearing and disappearing in an endless loop. I can see the boot files in a view of the contents of the USB flash drive when plugged into the functional machine I used to create it. I didn't mention it last week but the fact is that I already had a version of the Microsoft media creation tool loaded onto a DVD from a few years ago and had already tried to use that to boot into the Windows 10 installation screen before ever posting this question and had a similar disappointment with nothing happening other than the same experience of the machine just looping endlessly. I just assumed there was a problem with the DVD but now I'm having the same problem with the newly created bootable USB Windows 10 installation flash drive.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what is causing that problem or what can be done about it, now that you have tried the method I posted the other day.

Did you find a solution to this problem yet? I am currently having the same issue. Its going from Auto repair to BSOD on repeat. I can't boot from usb installer either. The only thing I am able to get to boot is Linux and it gives an error about the ACPI just like the BSOD but still boots.

I have not found a solution to this problem yet. I think the hard drive may be corrupted. I have since opened up my Pavilion, pulled the hard drive out of it and ordered a replacement but, with my luck, the problem will probably turn out to be something else like the motherboard.

I may have found the solution. At least, it worked for me. Boot into bios go to the boot options menu, disable secure boot, clear secure keys and then load hp default keys. I was able to the boot back into Windows and everything looks to be working. Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you. I won't be able to try that until I have the new hard drive installed. Of course if the new drive boots up, I won't need to try your suggested solution but I'll let you know.
