Notebook 15-dy1071wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I mistakenly updated the bios via Windows update.  Now the laptop repeatedly reboots telling me its updating the Bios.

I tried going back to the previous bios, but the laptop shows the current and previous version as F22.  I attempted to get F21 (sp132835) from the support page, however when I downloaded it, the exe it generates to create a bootable usb does not seem to do anything.  I went back through the previous versions, sp107411 ver F13 allowed me to create the usb but the laptop would not take it. It appears the HP Flash utility version changed.  Is there another source for the BIOS versions? Thank you

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry! We are in your corner.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. Use HP Support Assistant to find and install updates, including BIOS updates, for your computer with Windows.

  1. In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant, or click the app icon  in the taskbar.

If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.

  2. On the My devices tab, find your computer, and then click Updates.

  3. Click Check for updates and messages to get the latest updates.

  4. Wait while HP Support Assistant analyzes the system.

  5. After the analysis completes, select the listed updates, download and install the updates, and then follow any on-screen instructions.

  6. If prompted, restart the computer, and then close the tool.

And, also refer to the article: How to Update BIOS Software on Windows PCs

Thank you for posting back

As you've mention in your previous post, unable to install BIOS file using USB flash drive and wanting to install the latest BIOS.

  • What happens when you power on the computer?
  • Are you getting BIOS error while system starting up?

If you have already performed the steps from the document HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start:  No Power or no Boot and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
