Issue with HP Pavilion laptop performing system update

When i turned on my laptop yesterday, i got the message 'please wait, system update....'.  After letting it sit to do its thing, i came back to my machine and i had the blue box with the Enter Admin Password or Power On Pass.  I was able to get past the screen by using a password from bios-pw.org, however, my laptop still shows to  be doing the system update.  This has been running for a while now and doesn't seem to be doing anything.  How do i get past this?
