HP Notebook energy star N7J41EA#ABU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had my notebook for about 4 years now. Last May my battery started playing up and I could only use my laptop while it was charging. I bought a battery replacement in early August 2018, until early Feb 2019 it worked perfectly and would charge up to 100% however recently the computer would charge for a minute, come off charge, go back on charge which is really annoying.

As well the battery will only charge up to 83% then go on plugged in but not charging. After doing a battery performance test I am told it needs calibrating but doing this through the F2 diagnosis process won't work as the AC adaptor would be connected for 4 minutes then after would stop working due to the battery being fully charged at 83%. You are unable to calibrate the laptop without it being plugged into the AC charger.

I have already tried replacing the charger with no prevail, I am trying to follow the HP assist manual route of calibrating the laptop however when looking at it on the app and looking on it online states to do different steps so I'm unsure which one to follow.

Help would be great because I am a student and unwilling to blow another £79 on a battery which might just stop working in 6 months time again.

Many thanks
