My hp evvy x360 14-fc0502na ( only bought a month ago) has been having an issue the last 2 weeks has been randomly going from clamshell mode ( regular laptop mode) into tablet mode which disables my keyboard and touchpad but on the occasion i have my wireless hp mouse connected the mouse still functions as usual with just my built in touchpad and keyboard being disabled. The normal switch between clamshell and tablet and tent mode etc is fine when i intend for it to do so as it behaves as it should. It will randomly go into tablet mode as stated above. I have found an annoying temporary solution which is to raise the rear of the laptop in clamshell mode so it is at an angle ( raised) and this seems to turn my keyboard back on and keep it like that once it is raised. I realise this to be likely a sensor issue and my laptop has not been anything magnetic which would impact what i assume to be its hall effect sensors. i have run several diagnostics checks and all state that the sensors are working, i have ran the control centre and havetried other things such as checking the logs for which mode it is ( i forgot the name but it states 1 or 0 and it was all in order), the laptops display settings are all at the reccomended and also rotation lock settings are set as they should be. I have restarted my pc several times which fixes the issues temporarily.
Does anyone know if this can be solved via a setting or through the pc itself or do i have to get it repaired since its more of a hardware issue than software issue i presume? Any and all solutions are very appreciated!

@KP8338, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Envy x360 Randomly Switching to Tablet Mode!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP Envy x360 14-fc0502na is intermittently switching from desktop (clamshell) mode to tablet mode, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Step 1: Check Display Rotation and Mode Settings
Ensure that the hinges are operating smoothly and the display is securely positioned in clamshell mode. Sometimes the hinge sensors might incorrectly interpret the mode if not properly aligned.
Go to Settings > System > Display:
- Under the “Rotation lock” section, ensure it is set appropriately and not switching automatically.
Step 2: Update Drivers and Firmware
Update your device driver:
- Open Device Manager by typing Device Manager in the taskbar search box.
- Expand the list for “Human Interface Devices” and “Sensors”.
- Right-click on each device listed and select “Update driver”.
Update your BIOS and firmware:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your laptop model and check for BIOS or firmware updates.
- Follow the instructions provided by HP to update BIOS and firmware.
Step 3: Perform a System Settings Check
- Check in Tablet mode settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Tablet mode.
- Ensure the setting “When I sign in” is set to “Use desktop mode”.
- Set “When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off” to “Don’t ask me and don’t switch”.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi, ive tried all of these and some solutions on youtube and even tried downloading other HP drivers and software for the 2H24 windows 11 such as updating the BIOS and some sensors and this also has not seemed to work. The only temporary yet annoying solution is to still raise the back of the laptop.
