Hi @Latinoheat

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a serious issue where your HP laptop powers on, but turns off immediately. This could be caused by a number of factors, including hardware issues, power supply problems, or software corruption. Since you've already tried some common troubleshooting steps (removing the battery and unplugging the power cord), let's dive into some additional steps to help you resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset (Again, But Thoroughly)

Even though you’ve tried unplugging and removing the battery, let's ensure the reset is done completely:

  • Turn off the laptop (if it's on).
  • Disconnect the power cord and remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and try turning the laptop on again.

If it stays on, it might indicate a problem with the battery or the connection between the battery and the motherboard.

2. Test with Only the AC Adapter (Without the Battery)

Sometimes, if the battery is faulty or not providing sufficient power, the laptop might shut down immediately when trying to start up.

  • Remove the battery from the laptop.
  • Plug in the AC adapter and try turning the laptop on.
  • If the laptop stays on, the issue is likely with the battery or the battery connection.

3. Check the Power Supply

  • Make sure the power adapter (charger) is providing enough power. Check the LED light on the power adapter (if your adapter has one). If it’s not lit or flickering, there may be an issue with the power adapter or the power cable.
  • Test with a different power adapter if possible, ideally one that’s compatible with your laptop.

4. Inspect the RAM (Memory)

A malfunctioning or improperly seated RAM (memory) module can cause boot issues like the one you're experiencing.

  • Turn off the laptop and remove the battery (if removable).
  • If your laptop has accessible RAM, remove it and reseat it properly (take it out and gently push it back into its slot).
  • If you have multiple RAM sticks, try booting with just one installed to rule out a faulty RAM stick.

5. Check for Overheating or Dust Blockages

If your laptop is overheating, it could automatically shut down to prevent further damage.

  • Turn off the laptop, remove the battery, and unplug the power.
  • Inspect the air vents on the side or bottom of the laptop for dust or blockages. Use a can of compressed air to clean out any dust that might be clogging the vents, especially near the cooling fan.

If the fan isn’t working properly due to dust buildup, the laptop could overheat and shut down immediately.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
