Hi @GandlaAnjali_12, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop encountered an issue and is now in the recovery environment. If you were just downloading files and didn't make any system changes, this could be due to:
- Unexpected shutdown or crash
- Corrupted system files
- Storage issues (like a failing hard drive/SSD)
Try These Steps:
Restart Your Laptop
- Select Restart from the recovery menu and see if it boots normally.
Use Startup Repair
- If restart doesn’t work, select Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Startup Repair and follow the prompts.
Check Storage (If Possible)
- If your system drive is failing, it might cause recovery mode to appear. If you can access the command prompt, type: chkdsk C: /f /r
This will check for errors and bad sectors.
Try System Restore (If Enabled)
- Go to Advanced options > System Restore and restore to a previous working state.
Boot Into Safe Mode
- Select Advanced options > Startup Settings > Enable Safe Mode and check if it boots.
Reinstall Windows (If Necessary)
- If nothing works, you may need to reset Windows while keeping your files. Select Advanced options > Reset this PC and choose Keep my files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
