I would like to update my HP ENVY Laptop – 13-ba0156ng to Windows 11. But it says there is a problem with Intel IntcOED.sys Driver. Windows is not able to update it. And the HP support assistant says that the software and the drivers are up to date. What can I do?

Hi @Mrstrompozzz

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are trying to upgrade your HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba0156ng to Windows 11, but the installation is being blocked due to the Intel IntcOED.sys driver. Since HP Support Assistant reports that all drivers are up to date, please follow the steps below:

Run Windows Update

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates and install all available updates, including optional driver updates.
  • Restart the computer.

Update the Intel Serial IO Driver manually

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand System devices.
  • Look for any Intel-related devices, such as Intel Serial IO or devices with a yellow warning icon.
  • Right-click the device and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.

Uninstall the Driver

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Locate the device associated with the IntcOED.sys driver, if available.
  • Right-click it and select Uninstall device.
  • Check the option "Attempt to remove the driver for this device", if prompted.
  • Restart the computer and try the Windows 11 upgrade again.

Install the latest BIOS

  • Visit the HP support page for your specific model and verify that the latest BIOS version is installed.
  • If a newer BIOS version is available, update it following HP's instructions.

Retry the Windows 11 installation

  • After completing the above steps, run Windows Update again or use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant to initiate the upgrade.

Take care and have an amazing day!
