Hi @Skr29,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Keyboard malfunction!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Laptop - 14s-er0002tu keyboard is opening random apps when pressing keys, it could be due to one of the following issues:

Possible Causes & Fixes:

1. Sticky Keys / Filter Keys Issue

  • Go to SettingsAccessibilityKeyboard
  • Turn OFF "Sticky Keys," "Filter Keys," and "Toggle Keys."

2. Keyboard Layout or Language Issue

  • Go to SettingsTime & LanguageLanguage & Region
  • Ensure English (US/UK) or your preferred language is selected.
  • Click on Keyboard Options and remove any unwanted layouts.

3. Keyboard Driver Issue

  • Right-click on the Start MenuDevice Manager
  • Expand KeyboardsRight-click your keyboardUninstall Device
  • Restart your laptop; Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

4. External Keyboard Test

  • Connect an external USB keyboard.
  • If the external keyboard works fine, the built-in keyboard may be faulty.

5. Check for Malware or Corrupt Files

  • Run Windows Security (Windows Defender) and scan for malware.
  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: sfc /scannow
  • This will scan and repair corrupt system files.

6. Perform a Clean Boot

  • Type msconfig in Run (Win + R)System Configuration
  • Under Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
  • Under Startup, open Task Manager and disable all unnecessary apps.
  • Restart and check if the issue persists.

Let me know what worked for you! 😊
