My touchpad and keyboard are not working when laptop starts to login screen. I’ve tried pressing esc during startup and it worked and I was able to run a keyboard diagnostics test and it passed but it still doesn’t work at startup.

i also tried uninstalling all my keyboard and mousepad drives on device manager and it still doesnt work after being restarted.

immediate help is appreciated.

thank you.

@Amirax319,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the keyboard and touchpad are not working after starting the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

  • Is the keyboard working on the Windows login screen?
  • Have you tested with an external keyboard?
  • What is the product number of your computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you restore the BIOS defaults and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

If you continue facing the issue, then update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@Amirax319,

Do a system restore on the computer, back to the date when everything was working fine.

Follow the steps in the below article to perform a system restore.
