HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC [edit]
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Serial number: [edited]

hi,

My keyboard sometimes doesen't work.I dont know why but maybe after a Windows update.

I tried to uninstall the keyboard in device manager and after reboot the keyboard works but after some minutes(30-40) the keyboard stops working and after a reboot is the same.

I installed pc hardware diagnostics and made a test that gives this ID: PLM94W-635A3A-QFPK0J-G1M913

I tried to fix the problem with regedit and set the value 1 to "start" but doesen't work.

I wrote this with my keybaord and now i see that tha value of "start" is 3 but im sure that if i turn off the pc and then turn on the keyboard doesen't work.

The keyboard before windows boots works so i think the problem is a driver with windows 10.

That error means one or more keys on your keyboard has failed.

Unlike external keyboards, the ones on laptops are not made to be rugged, but instead, to be light. Thus, if you get five years out of a laptop keyboard, you're doing very well.

Individual keys are generally not replaceable, but if the keys are not broken, then the issue is more likely with the membrane underneath the keyboard and that has to be replaced as a unit.

If you are experienced at laptop repairs, you can often replace a keyboard for $25 for a new one and a half-hours work. I have done this on older HP laptops.

But, if you're NOT, there is a serious risk of breaking fragile connectors and cables doing this -- so I do not recommend it.

Instead, I would recommend you hunting down a local laptop repair place to have THEM replace the keyboard. Should only be an hour's work or less.

There is no way to fix an intermittent problem -- you either have to live with it NOT working sometimes, or you have to replace it.
