Product: HP Chromebook 14-ca030nr
Operating System: Chrome OS
Hi there! I have been currently having issues with my HP Chromebook 14-ca030nr in regards to the keyboard. Every time I try to type out a message or email it types a bunch of random letters or numbers or it opens the downloads page. I have tried to address this on my own, but I am not the most tech savvy person. Any advice on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated as I use my Chromebook at work.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it resolves the issue.
- Click the picture in the bottom right-hand corner of your Chromebook screen and click the line that says “_____ keyboard.”
- Under the options here, switch back to the US keyboard (or whatever keyboard your country uses if you’re in another country).
If you continue facing the issue, then I recommend you do a powerwash following the below steps.
- If you are not logged out, select the picture in the lower-right corner, then select the “Sign out“.
- Hold “CTRL” + “ALT” + “SHIFT“, then press “R“.
- Select “Restart“.
- Once the Chromebook restarts, select “Reset” or “Powerwash“.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!
