HP Chromebook 14-ca030nr
Chrome OS
Hi there! I have been currently having issues with my HP Chromebook 14-ca030nr in regards to the keyboard. Every time I try to type out a message or email it types a bunch of random letters or numbers or it opens the downloads page. I have tried to address this on my own, but I am not the most tech savvy person. Any advice on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated as I use my Chromebook at work.

@KristaD82,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it resolves the issue.

  1. Click the picture in the bottom right-hand corner of your Chromebook screen and click the line that says “_____ keyboard.”
  2. Under the options here, switch back to the US keyboard (or whatever keyboard your country uses if you’re in another country).

If you continue facing the issue, then I recommend you do a powerwash following the below steps.

  1. If you are not logged out, select the picture in the lower-right corner, then select the “Sign out“.
  2. Hold “CTRL” + “ALT” + “SHIFT“, then press “R“.
  3. Select “Restart“.
  4. Once the Chromebook restarts, select “Reset” or “Powerwash“.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
