Hi @Bewilderednow,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with certain keys on your HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop keyboard, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here are some suggestions.
Clean the Keyboard:
- Dust and debris can accumulate under the keys, causing them to become unresponsive. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any particles that may be affecting the key's functionality.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, finding the keyboard section, and updating the drivers.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Inspect the keyboard for any visible physical damage. If a key appears to be physically damaged, it may need to be replaced.
Use an External Keyboard:
- Connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop. If the external keyboard works fine, it could indicate an issue with the built-in keyboard.
Perform a System Restart:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Restart your laptop and see if the keyboard starts working correctly.
Update or Roll Back Keyboard Drivers:
- If updating the drivers doesn't solve the problem, try rolling back to a previous version. Sometimes new drivers can introduce issues. Right-click on the keyboard in Device Manager, choose "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and select "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.
Run Windows Update:
- Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Windows updates can include important fixes for hardware-related issues.
Perform a System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state when the keyboard was working correctly.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some third-party software may interfere with the keyboard functionality. Try booting your laptop in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. If it doesn't, it could indicate a software conflict.
Remember to back up your important data before attempting any troubleshooting steps that involve system changes or updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
