My HP laptop is fully charged, and if I pull the plug out of the lap top it shuts down completely. I cannot turn it on unless I plug it back in. This lap top is not even a year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course it says it is out of warranty and OF COURSE I CANNOT CONTACT ANY VIA PHONE. This is so frustrating that you DO NOT make it easy to speak to anyone on the phone or on chat. What is the point in having tech support if you can't get ahold of anyone. I don't want to speak to anyone on here, I want a freakin phone conversation, how in the world do you do that?

@Tina6463, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP 15-dw1000 Laptop shuts down immediately when unplugged, even though it shows a full charge. That’s definitely not expected behavior, especially for a laptop less than a year old. Let’s go through some steps to diagnose and resolve this issue.
Check Battery Health in HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops).
- Go to Battery > Battery Check.
- Run the test and review the results:
- If it says "Replace Battery" or "Battery Failure", the battery may be defective.
- If it says "OK", proceed to the next step.

Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes a hard reset can resolve power-related issues:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and try turning it on again.
- Then unplug and check if it stays on.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause battery detection issues.
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your product: HP 15-dw1000.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and power management drivers.
Battery Connection Check (Advanced)
If you're comfortable:
- Power off the laptop and remove the bottom cover (if accessible).
- Check if the battery connector is securely attached to the motherboard.
And, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
