If I do a lot of moving displays such as YouTube, games, etc. on my laptop, after a few seconds, no control will work and my laptop will be out of control. Then I have no choice but to reboot with the power button. My laptop also has severe fever. I tried replacing the mainboard, and it's the same symptom. Is there a solution? (Please understand that it's awkward because I used a translator.)

Hi,

I understand your HP Envy x360 14-fa0040AU freezes during videos, games, or heavy movement on the display, and also overheats. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Update BIOS, Graphics, and Chipset Drivers
• Open HP Support Assistant → My Devices → Updates → install all recommended updates.
• Also run Windows Update and install all available system and driver updates.
These updates can fix performance, display, and thermal issues.

Reset the Graphics Driver (Quick Test)
• When the system freezes, press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B.
• If the display recovers, the issue is related to graphics driver instability.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
• Turn off the laptop, press Esc repeatedly → choose F2 System Diagnostics.
• Run System Tests → Extensive Test to check for hardware faults such as memory or CPU overheating.
• Note any failure IDs shown.

Check for Overheating or Blocked Vents
• Make sure air vents are clean and unobstructed.
• Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface (not bed/sofa).
• If possible, use a cooling pad to improve airflow.
Excess heat can cause sudden freezes and shutdowns.

Test Without the AMD Graphics Driver
• In Device Manager → Display Adapters → right-click AMD graphics → Disable device.
• Use the laptop for a short period with only Microsoft Basic Display Driver.
• If the freezing stops, the issue is caused by the AMD driver or GPU load.

Perform a Clean Boot
• Press Windows + R → type msconfig → Selective startup → disable all non-Microsoft startup items.
• Restart and test the system.
This helps identify if background software is causing the freeze.

I hope this helps.
