Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand your HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 is crashing and displaying an "Out of Memory" error. Since Windows 11 is running out of available memory resources, this can be related to memory usage, virtual memory settings, startup applications, drivers, or system file issues.
Please try the following steps:
Check Memory Usage
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select the Processes tab.
- Sort by Memory and identify any application consuming unusually high memory.
- Close unnecessary applications and restart the notebook.
Free Up Startup Resources
- Open Task Manager > Startup apps.
- Disable non-essential startup programs.
- Restart the system and monitor whether the crashes continue.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Power off the notebook.
- Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc, then F2.
- Run the Memory Test first.
- If available, run the Extensive Memory Test.
- Note any failure ID or error message displayed.
Update Windows and HP Drivers
- Open Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.
- Visit HP Support and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers available for the HP 17-cp3000 model.
Check Virtual Memory
- In Windows Search, type "Advanced System Settings" and open it.
- Under Performance, select Settings > Advanced.
- Under Virtual Memory, select Change.
- Ensure "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is enabled.
- Restart the system.
Repair Windows System Files
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run:sfc /scannow
- After completion, restart the notebook.
Check Available Storage
- Ensure the Windows drive has at least 15-20 GB of free space.
- Low storage can contribute to memory-related crashes and performance issues.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
