Hi @MAGNAMBROO,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Laptop 14s is experiencing performance issues when the charger is plugged in. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue without spending money.
Power Settings Adjustment:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options (or search "Power Options" in the Start menu).
- Check the current power plan settings. Sometimes, laptops may have different performance profiles for when they are on battery versus when they are plugged in.
- Try setting the power plan to "High Performance" both when plugged in and on battery to see if it resolves the lagging issue.
BIOS Settings Check:
- Although you've updated the BIOS, sometimes certain BIOS settings can affect performance. Go into BIOS settings (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del during startup) and look for any power management settings that could be causing the issue. Ensure everything looks normal and there are no power-saving features causing slowdowns.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure all your device drivers are up to date, especially those related to power management and chipset drivers. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause performance issues.
Check for Background Processes:
- When the charger is plugged in, there might be background processes or applications that consume more resources. Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for any unnecessary processes running and consuming CPU or memory.
Check Charger and Power Supply:
- Sometimes faulty chargers or power supplies can cause issues with performance. If you have access to another charger that is compatible with your laptop, try using it to see if the issue persists.
System Cleanup:
- Perform a disk cleanup to remove temporary files and free up disk space.
- Check for malware using your antivirus software and remove any threats.
Restore Default Settings:
- If you've made changes to settings recently and the problem started after that, try restoring default settings in the power options, BIOS, or any other relevant settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
