HP Laptop PC 17t-by400 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

The system will not recognize the SSD drive and I have also tried using the recovery USB built stick.  The following are pictures of the issue and what I am seeing.  I have run the quick and long version of the storage diagnostics which both complete normally.  I have read in other posts about turning off Optane, but for my 2TB drive, it says that I would lose all the data.  It has been a few months since I did the last backup and I would like to see if others have ideas to try.

@Seger21, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Laptop PC 17t-by400 CTO.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with your HP Laptop PC 17t-by400 CTO and SSD recognition. Here are a few suggestions that might help:

  1. Check the connections—make sure the SSD is properly plugged into the motherboard.
  2. Check BIOS/UEFI—Go into BIOS/UEFI and see if the SSD is detected. If Optane memory is turned on, try turning it off (but back up your data first).
  3. Try different ports or cables—connect the SSD to another port or use another cable to rule out hardware issues.
  4. Repair the operating system—Use your recovery USB stick to fix the boot sectors. This can sometimes help the system recognize the SSD again.
  5. Data recovery—If your main goal is to get back your files, use data recovery software before making other changes.

Take care and have an amazing day!
