HP ENVY x360 my Convertible PC P/N: W2K56UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP ENVY x360 my Convertible PC P/N: W2K56UA#ABA. I did a recent update to my AMD graphics driver about 2 days ago. Since then it began to slow down and the screen began to flicker (as AMD has been know to do with the 2020 update). My Anti-Virus last night told me that there was suspicious activity that was blocked from Microsoft edge as well. (Not sure why Bitdefender keeps telling me this for months.) Earlier today however my laptop was kind of running, being very slow and the cursor would basically have a tracer at all times. As of now it is turning on but the screen is ONLY BLACK! I cannot seem to get it out of the black screen no matter what I do. I need my info from my laptop as it is for court cases. I seriously need some help here! Please! Thank you very much for reading!

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform a hard reset

Here are the steps:- Click here

Check if it boots into safe mode

  • Turn on the computer.
  • Tap the "F8" key on the top row of the keyboard continuously as soon as the machine begins to boot up.
  • Press the "Down" cursor key to select "Safe Mode" and press the "Enter" key.

If it boots in safe mode, disable all MS services using msconfig

  1. Choose Start > Run, and type msconfig in the Open box. .
  2. Write down all deselected items under the Startup and Services tabs.
  3. Click the General tab, and choose Selective startup.
  4. Click the Startup tab and select Disable All.

Then, restart the notebook and check if it works

If not, perform an extensive h/w test and get back to us with the results

Run Extensive system test to check for hardware failures.

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

5. Click Run once, or Loop until error. While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
