Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Windows 11 home in S mode, everything is updated to latest versions. It shuts off like the screen goes black and I can’t do anything on my laptop unless I shut it and the light comes back on the power button then the screen will turn on again but it does it multiple times when I try to use it for an assignment. I have already restarted it, reset it completely, I have powered it off, let it rest, idk I need to do assignments as a college student and can’t afford a new laptop I got this in January.

I assume it is still under warranty.

You can also contact the closest authorized service center
If you have (or get) a service order number you can check for status here.

How to contact an HP agent:

Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.
If your HP product is out of warranty you can extend your PC coverage with HP Care Packs as described here.

One problem with warranty:  If they want you to send it in it may take weeks to fix and you will be  without a laptop.

Was the laptop issued to you by the school?  if so, the network manager or some admin should handle the problem.

How did this happen?

  • Power surge?
  • Add memory or install new device?
  • BIOS update that went wrong?
  • Windows update that failed?

if you can pinpoint the problem to some event or a certain date it started happening you might be able to do a restore to the time was was last working ok.

What is the exact product ID?  Possibly you have factory restore.

HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old. The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires. You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.

Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go here and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character. If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 64gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB. Alternately, download from the MS windows store. Click here for instructions.

Many commercial or "business" laptops have an alternate recovery tool different from that cloud.
