HP 15 Notebook PC R119TU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I am using HP 15 Notebook PC.

It has been only one and half year to my laptop but its battery is not working anymore. It all started with very strange problem when its battery started showing 0% and still running and then it didn’t support charging either and later became dead.

Now I have replaced its battery but still a new problem of sudden shutdown I am facing in my laptop.-Battery suddenly discharged at 50-70% and then laptop starts only after connecting adapter.

Also when I connect adapter, after few minute or so it stops charging and start after one minute. This happens frequently and it takes so much time to charge only 25 % battery from 75 to 100% because battery usually shuts at 50-70% as I said earlier.

Presently in Battery test it showing 49 cycles

I have tried uninstallation of drivers like in device manager( updating, uninstalling etc.) and battery check hard disk check and all other checks. Everything is showing ok.

But nothing is working. It still shutdown at 70% and now i am using adapter after evey 25% battery drain means after half hour battery backup only.

Kindly help if someone knows.

Hi @KaranGulista,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. I see from the post that you are having charging issues on your HP Pavilion notebook. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any changes on the PC before the issue started?

Have you tried to update the drivers?

In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard Reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, the keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue.

The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the BIOS and the Chipset drivers to the latest version using the Official HP website for drivers and downloads: Click here to find it.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Run a battery test using F2 (during restart), Please capture the failure ID for further assistance.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Jeet

These are the following steps that i had tried tried earlier and now also.

1. Hard rest done'

2. Drivers updated

3. All components tested

4. It is not possible for me to use my laptop till 15% of battery level because battery drains suddenly at around 60%. This i had mentioned earlier also.

Also charging is not continous it stops and starts after every 30 seconds and it is taking 4-5 hours to charge from 65% to 100%.

I think there is some hardware problem in this series of Hp laptops because some other people has also reported the same issue in my contacts.

Still if you can find any solution please let me know.

Regards

Karan
