Is it possible to track the location of a laptop using Serial number?

The simple answer is No.

 

Yes, but...

If that serial number had been attached to professional track and recover software that was installed into the computer,

If the computer were activated in a region where the software could "find" the hardware,

(then)

Yes, in that way, the serial number might have been used as a means to help secure the identity of the computer and possibly aid in the recovery of the hardware.

HP does not track / lock computers.

That said, if the product is available in your region, 

Absolute Protection provides several services, including Delete, Locate, Recover

 

Search for "Absolute" or  "Absolute Home & Office"
