Hello guys, I am glad that I am able to receive your help on this issue. There are three aspects in the issue and I don't know if they are linked.
1) first is that my laptop is not charging when it's is in shutdown state although the orange light near the plug turns on but the laptop stays where it was even if you let it for hours, but when plugged in you turn on the laptop it starts charging then you can even turn if off again and it will be continue charging.
2) second is the "BIOS Checksum invalid error" and sometimes even "bios recovery error" but recently I have updated the bios
from the hp official site, so the "bios recovery issue" is not anymore but the checksum issue persists.
3)Lastly, from the last 5 days or so my laptop is not showing my hard disk drive anymore. It only shows the SSD drive I had installed a month ago. I have checked every possible way but it looks like the laptop is not recognizing the hard drive and it is missing from the hardware list.
I don't know if all these are interconnected but they seem to.
All these at the same time are really getting me off, so please try to help and cooperate.

Hi @Sachin993,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with several issues with your HP Laptop PC 15. Let's address each one.
Battery Not Charging When Laptop is Off:
- The fact that your laptop only charges when it's powered on suggests there might be an issue with the power management settings or the charging circuitry.
- Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Power Settings: Sometimes, laptops have settings that control charging behavior. Check your power settings in BIOS and in your operating system to ensure that charging is enabled even when the laptop is off.
- Update BIOS: Since you've already updated the BIOS, ensure you have the latest version from HP's official website.
- Reset Power Management: Try resetting the power management settings in BIOS to default and then customize them again if needed.
- Hardware Check: If the issue persists, it could be related to the power adapter, battery, or internal circuitry. Consider testing with a different power adapter or contacting HP support for a hardware check.
BIOS Checksum Invalid Error:
- This error typically indicates a problem with the BIOS firmware, possibly due to a corrupted BIOS image or a faulty BIOS chip.
- Troubleshooting Steps:
- Since you've updated the BIOS recently, ensure you followed all instructions correctly. Sometimes, improper BIOS updates can cause checksum errors.
- Try clearing the CMOS (BIOS settings) by following the instructions in your laptop’s manual.
Missing Hard Disk Drive (HDD):
- If your laptop isn't recognizing the HDD anymore, it could be due to a connection issue, driver problem, or hardware failure.
- Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check Connections: Open up your laptop (if possible) and ensure the HDD is properly connected to the motherboard. Sometimes, loose connections can cause the drive to not be detected.
- Check Device Manager: In Windows, check Device Manager to see if the HDD is listed. If it's not, there might be a driver issue.
- Hardware Test: Use HP’s hardware diagnostic tools to check if the HDD is detected during system startup tests.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
