Hi @Jesyfaith,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A blinking caps lock light on an HP laptop can indicate a hardware or firmware issue. Here's what you can try to troubleshoot.
- Hard Reset: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if it's removable). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Then, reinsert the battery (if removable) and plug in the power adapter. Try turning on the laptop again.
- Check RAM: If you're comfortable with it, try reseating the RAM modules. Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and remove the battery. Then, locate the RAM modules (usually accessible through a compartment on the bottom of the laptop) and carefully remove them. Reinsert the RAM modules firmly and properly. Sometimes, poor connections with the RAM can cause this issue.
- External Display: Connect an external monitor to your laptop and see if you get any display on it when you turn on the laptop. If you do, it could indicate an issue with the laptop's screen or its connection to the motherboard.
- Check for BIOS Error Codes: Different sequences of blinking lights or beeps can correspond to specific error codes. Check your laptop's manual or HP's support website to decode the meaning of the blinking caps lock light. It usually indicates a hardware failure.
Remember to handle hardware components carefully and avoid causing any damage while troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
