Hi @Bg2031,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP Laptop is crashing on battery.

Immediate Troubleshooting & Verification Steps:

1. Reset the Battery Drivers:

Sometimes the OS gets confused about the battery's charge levels.

  • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

  • Expand the Batteries section.

  • Right-click both the Microsoft AC Adapter and the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and click Uninstall device for both.

  • Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall them on boot.

2. Check Advanced Power Settings:

If your processor draws more power than the battery can safely supply, the system will shut down instantly.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings.

  • Click Change advanced power settings.

  • Navigate to Processor power management and set the Maximum processor state to 99% on battery. (This disables aggressive CPU boosting, reducing instant power spikes).

3. Test with Battery Health Software:

Find out if your battery's physical degradation is triggering a failsafe shutoff.

  • For Windows, you can generate a hardware health report. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type powercfg /batteryreport. Open the generated HTML file in your browser to check for abnormal drops in capacity.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
