HP Pavilion dv6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone. I am currently using an HP pavilion dv6 laptop.

My laptop was working until the day before yesterday (25 June 2021). I typically leave it switched on and plugged to a charger as the laptop stays on my desk.

For most of yesterday (26 June) I did not use my laptop and did not even open it up. When I came home last night and opened up the laptop, it was working but I could hear a strange clicking sound coming from the laptop. Not wanting to cause any issues, I closed the laptop and left for a while. When I got back, I opened the laptop and it showed the blue screen that said “recovery error”, something about winload.exe error.

Not having the energy to fix the problem then, I shut down my laptop. Today when I switch on my laptop, it says “press Esc for startup menu”. If I press the escape key, it says “Esc… Pause startup”. I tried shutting it down and repeatedly pressing escape when I switched it on. Didn’t work. I shut it down, switched it on and then repeatedly pressed F10 key. It said “F10… BIOS setup options” but doesn’t go any further. I also removed the battery, held the power on button to discharge, left it for ten minutes, put in the battery and switched it on. It still doesn’t work. Please help!!!

Update:

after leaving my laptop switched on for a while, it’s gone back to the recovery blue screen.

“the application or OS couldn’t be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors”.

any tips on how I can fix this without losing my data?
