Hi,
I bought this HP laptop a couple of years ago and within the last year have been experiencing some very frustrating issues with it.
Every few minutes the laptop freezes/stutters for a few moments which affects both the screen and audio. The mouse still moves but everything on the screen stops momentarily. It makes it very difficult to use my laptop when working from home due to not being able to have smooth conversations via MS Teams. It is also very fustrating when typing as it sometimes doesn't register when it freezes. Audio stops for the few moments, then either speeds up or jumps to where it should be after those few seconds, and I have heard from people it is the same from my end when I am talking when it stops.
I'm not really a tech wizard but are there any easy troubleshooting things I can do to try and fix this? Or is there a problem with the laptop that cannot be fixed and simply needs replacing?
Thanks,
Hopesy.

Hello @Hopesy123
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.
(1) Update BIOS

Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:
- An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
- The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.
- HP Support recommends installing a specific BIOS update.

(2) Reboot
(3) Install/Update
Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver | 10.1.18412.8219 Rev.A | 0.6 MB | Dec 2, 2020 | Download |

Hi Ub6424
Thanks for your assistance
I have downloaded both of the updates you have recommended along with the reboots in the steps. The first download update came up with the below:
The second update took me through a wizard, then briefly opened up the command prompt before automatically closing. Did they both download as they should?
I am still experiencing the stuttering 😞
Thanks

Hello @Hopesy123
I strongly advise you to go back to Windows 10 as your notebook model is not fully tested and certified by HP for Windows 11. |
Try ...
(1) Backup <all> personal data (documents/pictures/videos etc...) to external USB hard drive
(2) Test your hardware Using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04499777
See how it works:

Only continue with (3) if no technical problems are detected!
(3) Downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10
