I clicked 'Update and shut down' on my computer a few days ago and it shut down without any problems. Last night I turned it on for the first time since and it said 'updates installing. The computer will restart several times'. This was over 12 hours ago and the screen is black with a little white loading wheel spinning. I know that these updates, if not completed properly can be problematic so I haven't tried restarting yet since I wanted to post here first. Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance.
P.S. I think I'm running Windows 10 64 bit but not 100% sure since I couldn't check

Hi CF4 and thanks for your reply!
What I ended up doing was forcing shut down and turning on the computer again. It then managed to restart the update process on its own and although it took awhile, everything went smoothly. Funny enough, what I did to help it along was stare at the screen for a very long time to make sure things were moving along and was able to tell what had happened so far (in case things wouldn't have gone smoothly). It worked!
Thanks for your advice! I'm sure it'll come in handy if someone has a similar problem 😉

Hi
This is a daft idea, but I am known for them...
Maybe the laptop is trying to download an update during the update process, and is unable to complete. So try an ethernet cable connection.
Otherwise you may have to consider removing any battery (if it is removable) and pulling the plug.
BUT you may need to then try a Factory Fresh recovery which will wipe your DATA, so trying other ways before that, like letting the PC reboot/restart and try and heal itself.
Make a repair USB from Microsoft with their creator tool, needs internet access from another machine really.
So what state is your Disaster Recovery Plan at?
If in doubt please ask.
