When I turn my laptop on, it goes straight to”your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart” so it will restart, preparing automatic repair, diagnosing your pc, did not start correctly. So I tried the esc button upon startup, F1, system info, F2 diagnostics, start, run and hard disk all fine. Try to press F10 and my laptop makes a loud beeping noise. And that’s it. I know nothing about computers.

@Nickie88, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your computer before this issue started?

What is the beeping pattern when you try to press F10?

Also, perform an extensive test on your computer. Here is how you do it-

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.

When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

5. Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are

shown on the screen.

6. If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) so you have it

available when you contact HP Customer Support. The information is also available in

Test Logs on the main menu.

Also, refer to the document HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code and HP PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10, 😎 for help.

Thank you so much for your help. I went to the system diagnostic screen and there are 3 choices for tests. I am going to run all 3. I believe there is a quick test and a longer one for each category, not 100 percent sure tho. As for the beep noise, it only beeps if I hit a key, and if I repeatedly press a key it will beep as many times as I pressed the key. Ctrl, alt, delete, and esc, do not cause the laptop to beep, and I think there may be a few others also. I ran out of space on my hp so I was deleting photos and other files I didn’t think I needed. I tried to completely reset it, and it’s unable to perform that request. I tried to do the command prompt reset, repair, I found online and that didn’t work either. There I also tried to reset it to a previous date but it said there was nothing saved to reset it to. When I press F11 upon start up in the corner it says F11...system recovery but that’s it. It stops there. Thank you so much for your time and patience, I’ve always hated computers and I’ve decided it’s time I learn how to use one no matter what. Lol

We can try performing the restore on your PC. There is no data loss when you perform a restore.

Follow the steps below-

1. Shutdown the computer.

2. Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3. Press F11 once for System Recovery.

4. Choose the Keyboard Layout.

5. Click on Troubleshoot.

6. Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Restore.

7. Choose a Restore point or a Restore date when the computer was working fine.

8. Click on OK to initialize the System Restore.

Hope this helps!
