Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was only deleting some programs and letting the windows update download. After the windows update finished I selected "restart now" after it restarted the speaker let out a humming noise and now it only boots to recovery mode.

I tried Startup Repair but it says it couldn't repair the pc

I tried bootrec /fixboot but it says access is denied. but I was able to find a workaround for that

I also tried bootrec /rebuildbcd

But I can't seem to boot into windows.

I have very important files on the laptop and any help would be very much appreciated

No, you have to perform a fresh install, not upgrade and still can keep your files/data/applications.

Re-install Windows should fix the problem (I did yesterday with one of my machines)

1. Build Windows installation media using

             https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

2. Select keep all user files/data/programs  (it keeps as default but please check).

Regards.

Thank you. But unfortunately, it says "The upgrade isn't available if you start your using Windows installation media" When I select "Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications"

If I was to create a backup with the HP backup, would that save all of the files and applications?
