It sounds like your HP Laptop 15 is experiencing a hardware or BIOS issue, possibly related to a malfunctioning keyboard, faulty BIOS settings, or even a hardware component like the CMOS battery or motherboard. Here's a step-by-step guide to help troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue.

 

Check for Stuck Keys

  • The beeping sounds at startup can be a result of a stuck key on the keyboard. Ensure none of the keys are stuck or depressed by lightly tapping each key. Especially check the "Enter" key, since it's often defaulted to confirm actions.

Reset BIOS to Default

  • If the system boots into the BIOS, try resetting the BIOS to default settings:
    • Enter the BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or Delete during startup).
    • Look for an option like "Restore Defaults" or "Load Default Settings."
    • Save and exit.

Check BIOS Battery (CMOS Battery)

  • A weak or dead CMOS battery can cause the BIOS to behave erratically, prompting to save/discard changes. Consider replacing the CMOS battery. It's a small battery on the motherboard, and it helps retain BIOS settings.

Disable Fast Boot

  • Sometimes fast boot can cause strange boot-up behavior.
    • Enter BIOS.
    • Look for an option labeled "Fast Boot" and disable it.
    • Save and exit.

Run Hardware Diagnostics

  • HP laptops usually come with built-in diagnostics that can test your hardware components.
    • When your laptop powers on, press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Select "Diagnostics" (often listed as F2 or F11).
    • Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.

Check RAM and Storage

  • Faulty or loose RAM and storage drives can also cause irregular boot behavior.
    • If you're comfortable opening your laptop, check to ensure the RAM and SSD/HDD are securely seated in their slots.

Update BIOS

  • An outdated BIOS could also lead to boot issues. Check HP’s website for any BIOS updates for your model.
