A few minutes ago I had knocked my large water bottle onto the middle section of my laptop. Immediately afterwards colored lines started appearing starting from the top of the screen and gradually ending at the bottom, then it shut itself off with a beeping/static noise coming from what I think were the speakers.
When I went to boot it up it showed this. (Attached image)
(Edit. message couldn’t be displayed. It says:
“Boot Device Not Found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk.
Hard Disk (3f0)
F2 System Diagnostics
For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup“)
I also cannot access system diagnostic from bios menu as it just gets stuck attempting to load. There is no rattling noise and the fan does appear to be spinning. Recovery mode also did nothing as it said it was unable to repair my laptop.
My laptop is also out of warranty by about a month. Any insight on what I should do going forward would be appreciated.

Hi quick little update.
It’s the next day and after removing my hard drive and running it on another laptop it miraculously works after about 5 retries. I can’t explain it but I don’t have any missing or corrupt data. My laptop is also working flawlessly. booted up to login first try.

Turn the laptop OFF -- and do NOT turn it back ON!!
Spilling liquid on a laptop is the second-most damaging thing you can do to it (first is dropping it on a hard floor).
Here are some tips on dealing with liquid damage: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/you-just-spilled-water-or-coffee-on-your-laptop-heres-what-you-should-d...
However ... it's most likely that SOME damage was done, regardless of how quickly you turned off the laptop and what you did afterward. The key problems are only the surface and almost certainly, more damage was done than that.
The ONLY way to know for sure is to take or send it to an HP Service Center and pay a LOT of money for them to run full diagnostics on it, and after that, to disassemble it to repair or replace any damaged components.
And, if the motherboard is damaged, the cost of repair can easily exceed the cost of replacing the laptop -- because (as far as I know) liquid spill damage is NOT covered under the warranty.
Since you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:
