Hi I own a hp laptop envy x360.
The laptop was working fine for years, Two days ago I updated to Windows 11 and still it was working fine until this morning. I turned it on and it takes me to the BIOS screen saying:
Boot Device Not Found
Please Install an operating system on your hard disk
Hard Disk - (3F0)
I run the hard disk test ( Quick and Extensive) and it passed. Same with memory Test. It passed again.
I try to go to the system recovery by pressing F11 when rebooting but it does not work.
It always takes me to same screen I mentioned above.
Any idea what else I can do?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi @Alexx360,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your laptop is having trouble recognizing or accessing the operating system on the hard disk. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI:
- Access the BIOS or UEFI settings of your laptop. You can usually do this by pressing a key (like Esc, F2, F10, or Del) during the boot process.
- Look for the boot order or boot priority settings. Ensure that the hard drive where your operating system is installed is set as the first boot option.
Reset BIOS/UEFI to Defaults:
- In the BIOS/UEFI settings, look for an option to reset the settings to default.
- Save changes and exit. Reboot and check if the issue persists.
Verify Bootable Device:
- Ensure that there are no external devices (USB drives, external hard disks) connected to your laptop. Sometimes, the system might try to boot from an external device.
Re-seat the Hard Drive:
- If you are comfortable, turn off the laptop, disconnect the power source, and remove the back cover to access the hard drive.
- Carefully re-seat the hard drive by unplugging and plugging it back in.
- Securely put the back cover back on and restart the laptop.
Run Windows Repair:
- If you have a Windows installation USB or DVD, you can try booting from it and selecting the repair option.
- Use the automatic repair feature to see if it can fix any issues preventing the operating system from loading.
Reinstall Windows 11:
- If all else fails, you may need to reinstall Windows 11. You can do this using a Windows 11 installation media.
- Boot from the installation media, choose the language and region, and select the option to install Windows. During the installation process, you can choose to keep your files, which should prevent data loss.
Remember to back up your important data if possible before attempting any major changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
