Yesterday when I was about to shutdown my laptop it said it needs an update so I pressed (update and shutdown) and plugged the laptop to the charger then after that I tried to turn on the laptop it wouldn't turn on like the on button wouldn't even give light and even the charger light was all off. There is no sign of any power. The laptop is literally new bought it couple of days ago but the problem I am out of the country where I bought it so no way to bring it back now

Hi @gafoorb01,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're stoked to have you on board!

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share the model name of your device?

Meanwhile, you can try these steps.

I understand your brand-new laptop is completely unresponsive after attempting a Windows update, the power button and charger show no signs of life. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this.

1. Check Power Source

Make sure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device like a phone charger or lamp.

Avoid using extension cords or surge protectors for this test, plug the laptop directly into the wall.

2. Verify Charger and Connection

Confirm the charger is securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.

Inspect the charger and cable for any damage, fraying, or bent pins.

If you have access to a compatible spare charger, try using it.

3. Perform a Power Reset (Hard Reset)

Disconnect the charger from the laptop.

If the laptop has a removable battery, take it out.

Press and hold the power button for 20–30 seconds to discharge any residual power.

Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the charger, then try turning it on again.

4. Check for Battery Issues

Some laptops with built-in batteries can show no power if the battery is completely discharged.

Leave the charger connected for 15–30 minutes, then try turning it on.

5. Look for LED or Sound Indicators

Observe any lights near the power button, charger port, or keyboard.

Listen for fan activity or other sounds when pressing the power button.

If there’s absolutely no sign of life, the laptop may have a hardware failure (e.g., motherboard or power circuit).

I hope this helps.
