Hello, i have a concern about my laptop. When its plugged in it works, but when i remove the charger it shuts down. The battery percentage is 0%, i think i drained it but when I charged it, it doesn’t increase to 1%. What should i do? I tried many things from youtube but its still not working.

Hi @Ashley299,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it is when your HP laptop works only when plugged in, and the battery stays stuck at 0% despite charging. Let’s walk through the most effective steps to diagnose and fix this issue.
What This Likely Means
Your laptop is:
- Running only on AC power
- Not charging the battery, or the battery is not being detected properly
This could be due to:
- A faulty battery
- A damaged charging circuit
- A BIOS or driver issue
- Or a battery calibration problem
Steps to Try
1. Perform a Battery Reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Plug the charger back in and turn it on.
2. Check Battery Status in BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for Battery Status or Battery Health.
- If it shows “Battery Not Present” or “0%,” the battery may be disconnected or faulty.
3. BIOS Restore:
- Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
- Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
- Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
