@Rajesh1004, I see you were interacting with @Kuroi_Kenshi however, he's away for now and I'd love to help you out.
Thanks for sharing the model details!
The “CMOS checksum is invalid” error (502) typically points to a CMOS battery issue, which can cause the system to reset BIOS settings and reboot unexpectedly — just like what you’re experiencing.
Here’s what we recommend:
Power drain: Turn off the laptop, unplug the adapter, and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds. Then restart.
BIOS update: If it boots successfully, update the BIOS from HP Support Assistant or HP Drivers.
CMOS battery: If the issue persists, the CMOS battery might be failing and may need replacement.
Let us know how it goes — we're here to help!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Zoey
Thanks for the suggestion , but this did not resolve the issue. Hp notebook 14 series does not have CMOS battery, I am unable to update the BIOS as the system reboots immediately within 1-2 minute after start up.
The laptop battery is in good condition providing 3hours of backup..pls suggestion how to resolve this issue.

Hi @Rajesh1004,
Thanks for the update and the clarification regarding the CMOS battery. I understand this issue is getting frustrating, especially since it’s preventing a BIOS update and making the laptop unusable.
Let’s try the following advanced recovery steps since the issue seems to be firmware/boot-related and is rebooting before you can act:
Perform a Hard Power Reset with Battery Discharge
Even if there's no separate CMOS battery, a deep discharge can help:
Turn off the laptop.
Unplug the charger.
If possible, remove the main battery (if it’s removable).
Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Plug the charger back in (without the battery), and try to boot into BIOS using Esc or F10 as soon as the system starts.
If successful, choose "Load Default Settings" in BIOS and save changes.
Try HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2)
Quickly press Esc repeatedly at startup, then F2 to access diagnostics.
Run the System Tests, especially the "Memory Test" and "Hard Drive Test."
If any test fails, you likely have a hardware issue (e.g., failing RAM or storage).
BIOS Recovery from USB (Critical Step)
Since normal BIOS update isn't possible, recover it via USB:
From another working PC, go to: HP BIOS Recovery Tools
Enter your model: 14q-cs0017tu
Download the latest BIOS version and use the HP BIOS Update utility to create a recovery USB drive.
Plug the USB into your affected laptop.
Press and hold Windows + B, then press the Power button once (keep holding Win + B).
Wait for the BIOS recovery screen to appear.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
